Having closed its long-time METAL development lab in Austin, Texas, Siemens appears to be putting all of its MT eggs in the Eurolang basket. Siemens is one of the main industrial partners of the Eurolang consortium, and Eurolang, it is said, will be downwardly compatible with METAL. The first Eurolang components are due in 1994, and forthcoming issues of Language Industry Monitor will be devoting extensive coverage to these products as they are emerge.
